Heavy Equipment Technician

Pipeline Machinery (PLM) CAT has an immediate opening in Cypress, Texas for entry-level to seasoned experienced Heavy Equipment Technicians.  

Position Summary:

The primary function of this position is to determine the status of service needed for various Caterpillar heavy construction equipment and allied equipment, and perform the necessary service, preventative maintenance, repairs, replacements, installations, or re-building of parts to restore the equipment to proper operation.

Job and Skill Requirements:

  • Demonstrated technical, mechanical and troubleshooting abilities to define and perform maintenance and repairs of construction machinery or related equipment.
  • Knowledge of electrical, hydraulic, powertrain and engine components.
  • Minimum 1 - 8 years of experience working with heavy machinery (Caterpillar machinery experience preferred but not required).
  • Must provide proper tools to perform equipment repairs.
  • Associate/certified degree program in a technical discipline (Technical College, Community College or Private Technical Institute), or equivalent experience in a related industry or the military.
  • Demonstrated verbal, written, analytical and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated basic computer skills to include entry, search, application use, and file creation and maintenance.

Equipment Painter

Pipeline Machinery (PLM) CAT has an immediate opening in Cypress, Texas for an Equipment Painter.

Position Description:

  • Scrape, sand sand blast, mask and paint various types of heavy equipment and components.  
  • Make minor body repairs in preparation for painting using filler putty or fiberglass.
  • Perform minor assembly of painted components.
  • Responsible for keeping paint equipment, materials and paint booth area clean.
  • Responsible for knowing and following proper guidelines for safe handling and disposal of paint, hazardous chemicals and waste.
  • Manage paint supply inventory and proper storage of paint products.
  • Perform maintenance on painting equipment.
  • Read and follow written shop work orders, paint specifications and paint application process.
  • Operate material handling equipment to move units in and out of paint area.
  • Rig and handle large equipment utilizing cables, slings and shackles.
  • Record and document paint and solvent usage.
  • Complete proper paperwork to charge and close work orders.
  • Perform other duties as requested, directed or assigned.

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • At least 2 years of painting experience in an industrial environment.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Ability to perform high quality equipment painting.
  • Capable of painting in a correct and safe manner.
  • Complete hazardous waste training, annually.
  • Requires working with hazardous materials and waste.
  • Ability to lift a minimum of 50 lb.
  • Climb up and down equipment as needed.
  • Promote safe work practices by using/wearing necessary proper personal protective equipment.
  • Ability to use hand tools; must possess own hand tools.
  • Ability to work overtime during the week or weekends, as necessary.
  • Must be able to read, write and communicate in English as it relates to the essential job functions of the position.
  • Mechanical aptitude.
